چکیده

Objectives • Investigate different strategies for selective growth of hydrogen-producing bacteria (e.g., heat selection and pH control, hydraulic loading) in a mixed culture environment. • Determine the biokinetics parameters of hydrogen-producing microorganisms. • Identify and quantify hydrogen-producing bacterial population in a complex microbial community background using nucleic acid based technique terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism (T-RFLP). • Design and develop improved bioreactor system to favor the growth of hydrogen-producing bacteria.

Biohydrogen Production of Vinasse Derived from Bioethanol Processing Industry Wastewater: A Review

Background: Increasing global consumption of fossil fuels leads to greenhouse gas emissions, climate change and environmental pollution. Agricultural, animal and food industrial waste is one of the main sources of pollution. The bioethanol industry is one of 17 highly polluted industries. In the process of producing bioethanol, vinasse is produced, and so far 22.4 Giga litter of vinasse has bee...

Impact of pH Management Interval on Biohydrogen Production from Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Wastes by Mesophilic Thermophilic Anaerobic Codigestion

The biohydrogen productions from the organic fraction of municipal solid wastes (OFMSW) were studied under pH management intervals of 12 h (PM12) and 24 h (PM24) for temperature of 37 ± 0.1°C and 55 ± 0.1°C. The OFMSW or food waste (FW) along with its two components, noodle waste (NW) and rice waste (RW), was codigested with sludge to estimate the potential of biohydrogen production. The biohyd...

PRODUCTION OF BIOHYDROGEN AND VOLATILE FATTY ACIDS FROM DEPHENOLIZED OLIVE MILL WASTEWATERS IN A SEQUENTIAL TWO-STEP ANAEROBIC PROCESS Extended abstract

A large variety of agro-wastes are actually investigated for their reliability as renewable sources: the possibility to employ some organic residues for the production of biomolecules, biofuels and biomaterials has fostered the born of the concept of second generation biorefineries, which differ from the first generation processes, since non dedicated crops are used as the feedstock. To this ai...
